160 Ethnic Rohingya People Drowning in the Sea
KUALA LUMPUR, KOMPAS.com - After being rejected to enter Singapore, about 40 Rohingya refugees from Myanmar rescued by the Malaysian side. The refugees were displaced from his native Myanmar.
They were discovered while in Vietnam in a boat. Their number is low because 160 people have drowned at sea before they were rescued a Vietnamese ship.
All refugees are in good health. They are survivors of the damage to the ship and had been spotted off the coast of Malaysia on 4 December. They were rescued at sea and then transferred to a ship for deployment to Johor Malaysia.
"I am sure that 40 citizens of Myanmar were rescued from Vietnamese-flagged cargo ship named Nosco Victory," said Hamid Mohamad Amin, Director of the Malaysian Maritime Agency.
Singapore refuses Rohingya arrivals after getting the news that they are citizens who do not have a country.
