Brotherhood: People Support New Constitution
CAIRO, KOMPAS.com - The majority of Egyptians give the option "yes" for the country's new constitution after much debate. About 70 percent of voters agreed Egyptians used this new constitution. Thus the results of the referendum were released while the Muslim Brotherhood, on Sunday (12/23/2012).
While the referendum result was published on the official website of the Muslim Brotherhood. In the site it loaded 71.4 percent voted in favor of the new constitution after 95.5 percent of ballots counted. 25 million legitimate voters in Egypt, only about 8 million people, or about 30 percent of the vote.
Referendum for a new constitution was conducted twice, on 15 and 22 December. In the first round of about 56 percent voted in favor of the new constitution. At that time about 32 percent voter turnout. However, the official results will be announced a few days.
At the official referendum results were announced, President Mohammed Mursi must hold parliamentary elections and the lower house within no more than two months.
