MOSCOW, KOMPAS.com - Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday (12/28/2012), signed a controversial law that prohibits U.S. citizens adopt Russian children.
This law will be effective if used on January 1, 2013. Kremlin official statement.
Act legislation is regarded as the most violent anti-US 13-year rule of Russia Vladimir Putin. The passage of this legislation not only invite the child rights activists protest but protests from a number of cabinet ministers.
Among Russian officials oppose this law is Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Chairman of the Olga Golodets Social Cabinet.
This shows divisions among the leaders of Russia between groups who want a tough stance against the U.S. and groups to put forward a more cautious.
However, Putin insists supports this legislation and accused the United States of being "insolent and arrogant" towards Russia.
Putin added that the law does not limit the opportunities for Russian orphans to get a better life abroad.
"There are still many places in the world to a higher standard of living than the United States," Putin said.
"And if we would send all our kids there? Or should we just moved to America? "Said Putin.
Legalization a controversial law this is the Russian response to the U.S. to punish Russian officials allegedly involved in the death of lawyer Sergei Magnitsky in prison in 2009 ago.
Magnitsky was a Russian lawyer who uncover a scandal involving millions of dollars the police, judiciary, tax officials, bankers and the Russian mafia.
