Singapore Church Movement Calls for Gay Face Lawsuit
SINGAPORE, KOMPAS.com - strong of Churches in Singapore called on his congregation in particular and society in general to form a "barricade" gay couples face legal action.
On 14 February, the Supreme Court will hold a hearing to decide the lawsuit and Kenneth Gary Lim Chee. Gay couples sued Article 377A which states homosexual acts as criminal acts. They assess, Section 377A was unconstitutional.
Asia One reported on Thursday (24/01/2013), the mobilization will be conducted openly and online by 100 churches and 40,000 Christian congregation joined in LoveSingapore community. They will be loud calls for the repeal of the provision.
Led by Reverend Lawrence Khong, pastor at Faith Community Baptist Church, warned Khong family values ââand religious freedom would be threatened if the article is lifted.
"State- Other countries have seen similar repeal the destruction of the family is the most basic unit of life. It is a negative impact to the community and nation building, "said Khong.
Khong Singapore government urged to lead efforts to provide proper moral education to the community and ensure that the definition of family is still made up of father, mother, and child.
In the meantime, Pastor Yang Tuck Yoong, LoveSingapore executive member, confirmed that the church has a responsibility towards this issue. "We are ready for this battle."

Reacting harder, humanist group under the leadership of Mark Kwan issued a statement that this article criminalises gay unaffiliated to any religion or a belief. Gay is not something that is against their religion. Kwan released an open letter to Justice Minister K Shanmugam to repeal it.
