Iran Election laws prohibit the use of all the facilities and resources of the state to oppose or support a presidential candidate. Another rule is to prohibit a public official openly supporting a candidate.

Iranian media writes, a person found to have violated the rules of the electoral law could face six months in prison or flogging 74 times.

Mehr news agency reported, Kadkhodai said violations of election laws could adversely affect Esfandiar for nomination.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who has been in power two terms do not can no longer run for a third term in the presidential election of Iran to be held on 14 June.
